Well-Being, Today and Every Day

Lately, more people are experiencing vague fatigue, lingering exhaustion, or poor skin condition—feeling unwell without actually being sick.
While it’s often blamed on aging, the real culprit is often the accumulation of toxins in the body.
Toxins have a way of slowly accumulating in our bodies without us even realizing it. These toxins include harmful chemicals from exhaust fumes, dioxins, food additives, and pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables, and even UV rays could be considered toxins for their harmful effects on the body. We need to get rid of these toxins from external sources and restore our bodies through internal cleansing.
Our bodies have the innate ability to heal themselves
This means that we have the power to restore our health on our own.
We often credit medicine or supplements for healing, but in reality it’s our own bodies that do the healing. Cut your finger, and the skin heals itself: a scab forms, and before long, it’s as if the cut had never happened.
This built-in ability shared by all humans and animals is what we call “natural healing power.”
To enhance and activate this power, the first step is to help the body release what it doesn’t need—to support detoxification, and in doing so, to restore the healing ability we were born with.
When we cleanse the body by removing toxins, we restore the body’s natural functions, allowing organs such as the liver, blood, lungs, kidneys, intestines, skin, and lymphatic system to work properly again.
So how exactly should we go about detoxing?
Ideally we would remove the sources of toxins, including exhaust fumes, and harmful chemicals such as dioxins, food additives, and residual pesticides in fruits and vegetables, as well as UV rays, but removing them completely is not possible. That is why I recommend improving lymphatic flow through massage.
I run a body care salon in Ningyocho, Tokyo, and since becoming a therapist myself, I’ve been amazed at how such treatment can improve the body’s natural ability to heal itself. I used to be quite sickly, but ever since I started receiving lymphatic massages, I no longer feel unwell or run down. I also no longer catch colds. Improving lymphatic flow not only helps flush out accumulated toxins and waste, it also strengthens the immune system, and I’ve felt the effects firsthand.
Blood flow and lymph flow should be considered together. Blood vessels are made up of arteries that deliver oxygen and nutrients, and veins that collect waste and toxins, ensuring constant circulation throughout the body.
Once you understand this, it makes sense that improving blood flow and lymph flow helps detoxify the body.
Begin by rotating your ankles daily, stimulating the soles of your feet, and consciously moving your toes. Since the feet, being the furthest from the heart, tend to accumulate waste products, taking good care of your feet can kick-start the body’s detoxification mechanisms.
To stimulate the soles of your feet, simply roll a golf ball back and forth under each foot while seated. For ankle rotations, use your inner ankle bone as a pivot point and rotate your foot in large inward and outward circles. This not only increases blood flow, but also lymphatic circulation.
Start by making this a daily habit in the bath.
By conditioning your body, boosting your metabolism, and cleansing from the inside out, you can effectively activate your natural healing power—so give it a try and improve your quality of life.
