The Case for “UV Love”


To maintain healthy skin, you need to get some sun, and then nurture your skin with a good, basic skincare routine. This creates a synergistic effect with your inner health. The key is to keep your skincare routine simple.

The Magic of the Booster
The first step is always to thoroughly cleanse your face of makeup, dirt, and dust without letting it dry out. The next step is to make this basic routine “even more effective” by using a booster. When you use a booster—an introductory lotion or serum—your skin can be reborn without damage, even after sun exposure. The key is to apply the booster immediately after washing your face or getting out of the bath, while your skin is still a little damp, without drying it with a towel.

Healthy skin has a mildly acidic pH of 4.5 to 6.0, but applying a booster temporarily shifts it to a slightly alkaline pH of 6.0. This temporarily makes the skin drier, prompting it to activate its metabolism and secrete sebum to return to a healthy, mildly acidic state.

Most people think the first product they should apply is a moisturizing lotion, but the first step should actually be a booster. It penetrates deep into the hardened stratum corneum, softening the skin and improving how well it absorbs subsequent products like lotions and serums. Rather than just applying a moisturizing lotion or cream to address dryness, it’s most important to first prep the skin with a booster. By doing this, you are providing your skin with essential moisturizing ingredients and improving the absorption of your basic skincare products.
