Blood Flow

While conventional methods like massage and walking are useful for circulation, I want to focus on a more fundamental issue: the quality and quantity of our blood. Our blood circulates the entire body in about one minute, maintaining body temperature, boosting immunity, and supporting natural healing. It’s not just about blood being thin; the blood’s composition is key to true health.

To improve blood quality and volume, I think we must re-evaluate the function of the stomach and intestines, which are responsible for absorbing nutrients from food. Furthermore, successfully managing stress is crucial. While stress is inevitable today, accepting it helps stabilize hormones and enhance blood quality. Conversely, improving my blood flow helps blood reach my brain, releasing “happiness hormones,” which has personally helped me gain the mental resilience to coexist with stress.

They say such physical improvements take 3 to 4 months. I would be delighted if you could commit 4 months to focusing on yourself. Since our bodies—including our blood, bones, and organs—are made of what we eat, I encourage you to review your “food” and “eating habits” and try the following 10 “blood flow boosting self-care” tips to enhance your blood quality.

The 10 self-care tips include: 1. Don’t skip breakfast. 2. Eat a light dinner. 3. Consume rice (steamed or boiled). 4. Get quality protein from meat. 5. Chew your food thoroughly. 6. Practice deep breathing. 7. March in place 30 times daily. 8. Rotate each ankle for 3 minutes. 9. Stimulate the calves by walking on your toes. 10. Soak in the bathtub.

I provide details: eat solid food for breakfast (rice and miso soup is fine); don’t skip carbohydrates for dinner, as rice aids cell repair. Rice is key to increasing blood volume. I recommend getting protein from various meats with vegetables. Chewing properly aids digestion and reduces gut stress. Deep breathing helps me correctly position my organs, improving gut function and blood quality. Marching with knees high stimulates the calves (the “second heart”). Ankle rotation fixes alignment and improves overall circulation. Toe walking pumps blood effectively via the calves. Soaking in the tub daily improves circulation, and warming the wrists, ankles, and neck is also effective.

When these become habits, I see that my posture naturally improves, and even my way of walking changes. I think there is nothing better than being able to change myself simply through my daily commitment. I encourage you to start these healthy beauty habits at the beginning of the new year!
