Thai food: sweet, spicy, and sour.
Thailand is quite popular these days. Its free-spirited atmosphere attracts creators from around the world. It’s glamorous yet mysterious. As a mostly Buddhist country, it is filled with temples, offerings, and worshipers. The Land of Smiles, home to many kind and beautiful people. Riding elephants through the streets, cheering for Muay Thai boxers, and relaxing with traditional massages, everyone falls in love with Thailand.
Above all, Thailand is hot. From March to May, temperatures can reach 40°C. The heat influences the local attire: exotic outfits of silk or cotton wrapped around the waist or draped over the shoulders.
The heat also impacts the cuisine. Thai food is a blend of sweet, spicy, and sour flavors that stimulate the appetite. Add cilantro, and it’s even more irresistible. Even in the heat, you can’t help but eat more.
What if Thai cuisine included dumplings? Imagining this while eating green curry in Japan, Matsui’s thoughts wander. What kind of wrapper to use? What ingredients for the filling? The result should be enjoyable even in the heat. Can dumplings that match the deliciousness of Thai food be made?
