The scent of New Orleans, carried by the river and its music

New Orleans, the “Crescent City,” curves along the Mississippi, where African and Caribbean rhythms blend into one. During Mardi Gras, brass bands lead crowds in dance, carrying both sorrow and joy on a vibrant beat.
This birthplace of jazz was home to Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong, who spread its warmth worldwide, and Dr. John, who captured the city’s raw depth with his swampy piano.
With music in the streets and steam in the kitchens, New Orleans cuisine blends spices, seafood, and history in a single pot. Let’s head into the kitchen

Shrimp gumbo dumplings, cloaked in soup.

Gumbo, the taste of New Orleans, blends shrimp, okra, and diverse cultures into one rich soup. This time, we turn this iconic dish into deep-fried gyoza. Here is the recipe.
①Mix flour, Cajun spices, salt, butter, and water to make the dough. ②Finely chop onion, bell pepper, and celery (Holy Trinity), then sauté in butter until fragrant. ③Coarsely chop peeled shrimp, okra, tomato, and garlic, then mix with the sautéed Holy Trinity and seasonings. ④Wrap the filling in the dough and deep-fry until crispy. ⑤Pour gumbo soup into a bowl, garnish with okra, tomato, and celery, and arrange the fried gyoza. How does it taste? One bite brings the sweetness of shrimp, thick okra, and bold Cajun spices all at once. The light, crispy shell absorbs the rich soup, deepening the authentic gumbo flavor. Spicy, aromatic, and savory-it feels as if the vibrant energy of New Orleans has arrived right on your plate.
