国内移動の最高峰！東海道新幹線『Supreme Class Cabin』が10月に登場！まさに異次元の快適ファーストクラス

日頃出張での一番の移動手段は、東海道新幹線なのではないだろうか。それも東京（品川含む）⇔新大阪に集中していることだろう。それゆえ、このアクセスの集中する区間の移動時間を有意義に過ごしたいと考えても、グリーン車という選択肢しかなかった。ところが10月１日より、東海道新幹線に『Supreme Class Cabin』というスペシャルでラグジュアリーな個室が誕生する。一足先に、この異次元の空間を体験レポートしたい。
この『Supreme Class Cabin』は一車両に２室あり、１人もしくは２人での利用となる。また、専用のWi-Fiも完備しており、リモート会議も座席に座りながら足を伸ばして、通常の声量で行うことが出来る。もちろん、電話も座席でそのまま話すことが出来る。
東京⇔新大阪間の移動時間は約２時間30分。出張の多い方なら共感してくれるだろうが、たかが２時間30分、されど約２時間30分なのである。移動空間がいかに大事かということは、エアラインを利用する際に実感されていることだろう。エコノミーとビジネスクラスでは、疲労度合、時間の充実度、到着先での心の余裕に直に影響してくる。しかし、エアラインで個室を完備しているのはエアバスA380だけであり、国内線には存在しない。列車移動では、豪華な観光特急は存在するものの、日本で最も利用頻度の高い東京⇔大阪において、『Supreme Class Cabin』という個室空間の登場はあまりにも画期的である。
では、その利用方法を筆者なりに考えてみた。まずは、ビジネス編。リモート会議をあえてこの移動時間に集中してセッティングして、くつろぎながら完全プライベート空間で極秘プロジェクトについて大きな声で会話をするもよし、同伴者を伴って同時に会議をするもよし。少し時間があれば、ソファーシートでリラックスすることもできる。何しろ移動時間に他の人に会うことが無いので、ストレスが皆無なのである。これは利用した者でしか実感が得られないかもしれないが、他人の存在感や弁当のにおいを一切シャットアウト出来るというのは、かなり快適である。
さらに、座席のヘッドスピーカーと手元のスマートフォンを、ブルートゥースで簡単に接続できる。移動中に議事録の読みあげを聞くもよし、リラックスモードに切り替え自身のプレイリストを流すもよし。あっという間にリゾート気分にもコンサート空間にもなる。また電源が複数のACに加え、パワーデリバリーが揃っているので急速充電ができるのもありがたい。そして何しろ座席のしつらえが心憎い。細かいセッティングに対応するのは当然ながら、すぐにリクライニングや通常モードに切り替えられるし、座席にシートヒーター完備と女性にもやさしい。
次に観光編。夫婦での移動は、ビジネス移動とは違った疲れが出るものである。ビジネスであれば席を離すという対策でプライベート空間を確保できるが、家族であるがゆえに本音のトークが出てしまうこともある。周囲へのマナーや予期せぬ環境に気を遣い、意見の相違が出がちである。しかしこの『Supreme Class Cabin』は、距離感が絶妙に保たれるラグジュアリーな個室。何しろ絶対的に外部から遮断されたプライベート空間なので、これからの旅行プランをポジティブに話し合うことができ、心身ともに快適な空間を約束してくれるだろう。
